Building on the waste to wealth mantra that was a hallmark of India’s Presidency of the G20 in 2023, PM Modi has emphasised his country’s commitment to the development of biogas.
At India Energy Week this year, he affirmed India's commitment to seeing 5,000 large scale compressed biogas plants commissioned before 2030. He also highlighted the strategic importance of India’s G20 Global Biofuels Alliance initiative, of which the World Biogas Association (WBA) is a founding member, saying this will promote the adoption of biofuels globally and ‘help in creating economic opportunities worth around $500bn’.
It is against this positive backdrop that WBA will be hosting the 2nd World Biogas Association INDIA Congress in New Delhi on 23-24 October 2024, seeking to build on the firm foundations established at the inaugural high-level INDIA Congress 2023, which established India’s potential and ambition for biogas and the benefits of pursuing an aggressive growth strategy. This year, the INDIA Congress will focus on detailing a framework to enable the rapid scaling of the biogas industry in the region.
